Elizabeth K Zorn, RN, BSN, Legal Nurse Consultant
[email protected]Beth received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester in 1976. From 1976 to 1995 she was a Registered Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital in the pediatric intensive care and then high-risk obstetrics units. From 1985 to 1995, Beth worked as a legal nurse consultant at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle, where she assisted in the defense of medical malpractice and other personal injury cases. From 1995 to 2022, Beth's extensive experience in the medical legal field allowed her to develop an advanced level of knowledge and skills to assist attorneys at Faraci Lange, LLP in the screening and prosecution of medical malpractice, wrongful death and other personal injury claims.
A legal nurse consultant with more than 37 years' experience in the legal field, Beth is a member of The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). From 2010 to 2015, she served on the AALNC board of directors, including one year as president. Beth has contributed to multiple AALNC educational resources including Legal Nurse Consulting Principles and Practices (2nd, 3rd & 4th editions), the Journal of Legal Nurse Consulting, the Online LNC Professional Course, the Code of Ethics, Scope & Standards of Practice, and the LNCC Review Course. She has presented at several AALNC forums and multiple AALNC webinars.
Since 2006, she has served on numerous national AALNC committees; she has mentored numerous LNC interns at the Faraci Lange law firm; and in 2006, she co-created LNCExchange, a national networking forum for LNCs, with Claudia Gomez.
Claudia P Gomez, RN, BSN, Legal Nurse Consultant/Forensic Nurse
[email protected]Claudia, President/CEO of Alpha CHECKPOINT of Rochester, Inc. (www.alphacheckpoint.com), received her Bachelor's degree from New York University in 1981. She practiced as a registered nurse in a variety of hospital settings, including the Medical/Surgical ICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), High-Risk Labor and Delivery, and Infectious Disease Research. In 1990, she transitioned from clinical nursing to join the plaintiff law firm of Faraci, Lange, Johns & Schwarz as a Legal Nurse Consultant, where she specialized in medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other personal injury claims.
In 1995, Claudia formed a medical-legal consulting business working with attorneys who specialize in medical malpractice, personal injury and criminal law. Since 1995, she has been serving the medical-legal needs of attorneys nationally. In December of 2000, Claudia formed Alpha CHECKPOINT of Rochester, Inc., as an extension of her forensic expertise, offering drug, alcohol, & forensic testing, DNA paternity & relationship testing including immigration and non-invasive prenatal, and background checks/employee screening to employers, courts/attorneys and the public.
In 2006, she co-created LNCExchange, a national networking forum for LNCs, with Elizabeth Zorn. Claudia is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), and the American College of Forensic Examiners International (ACFE) — Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Nursing.
